Funding Love for Nature
On July 9, 2012 at 1-4:00PM, a group of marketing majors held a seminar that concerning the current situation of our mother nature. The seminar was held at St. Thomas Hall, Letran Manila. The second group of class MK4A under the subject SWP conducted a seminar on “Funding Love for Nature.” The seminar focused on things that people could do to preserve nature even in the smallest way possible.
To formally open the seminar, our beloved subject professor Mrs. Evangelina Laurel delivered some very inspiring opening remarks to acknowledge the presence of our distinguished person guest and give a preview of what she should expect in the program.
The group invited Ms. Sonsehrey Bretana of WWF (Worldwide fund for Nature) to share her expertise and knowledge about how we students can contribute in a mission of taking good care of the environment. Ms. Bretana introduced their organization and mission to stop and eventually reverse the accelerating degradation of the Philippine environment in order to build a future in which Filipinos could live in harmony with nature. She also introduced the different activities of WWF to the Letran community like the “Reverse Run, Reverse the bad,” an advocacy campaign telling us that it is never too late until the world ends. We could still create change by starting within ourselves and showing good care of our nature.
To make the seminar livelier, selected marketing students from different levels showcased their talents and performed a dance number that generated cheers from the crowd.
To end the activity, our very supportive Dean of CBAA (College of Business Administration and Accountancy) Dr. Cristina Castro Cabral shared her experience when she stayed in a place appreciating nature. Dr. Cabral shared inspiring stories that students could learn from and eventually their learning in their future careers as professionals.
