Eradicate the SCAR (Severe Contamination of Aquatic Resources)
July 11, 2012 - the date that the group had waited for. “Eradicate the SCAR: Severe Contamination of Aquatic Resources” was a seminar showcasing the different problems and possible solutions to conserve our natural aquatic resources. In preparation of the seminar, the team divided their members so that all of them would perform specific tasks toward the success of the event.
The group posted different information and facts not commonly known about the oceans and the sea. They also had a mini photo booth at the back of St. Thomas Hall where attendees were able to snap a picture with a personal pledge about the conservation of under water creatures.
They started the seminar with a prayer, asking God’s guidance and help throughout the seminar. After the prayer, Mr. Raem Mendoza, the Marketing/Entrepreneurship/Economics Area Chairperson delivered his opening remarks and welcomed the attendees. After an intermission number, Ms. Rezhene Madrinico introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Gil Turgo.
Mr. Gil Turgo, spoke about sea creatures and his hobby. He shared his experience about diving under the sea and showed what most people are missing about the ocean. He talked about different organisms and things that the listeners could enjoy in the ocean apart from swimming. Questions were entertained after presentation. Mr. Turgo’s warm nature and engaging encouraged students to actively participate.
The seminar ended with closing remarks from the dean of CBAA, Mrs. Cristina Castro-Cabral, and a story about her experience of the ocean. The closing prayer was led by Mr. Kevin Bundalian.
This experience allowed the members to be informed and educated about the things that the participants were missing as a consequence of their actions towards water.
The group members hoped that the seminar was able to enlighten all the participants and make a difference by taking a step forward to save mother nature - not only the trees, mountains and living organisms in the land area, but also life under water.
