Effective Risk Management towards Competitive Advantage
As a part of the curriculum of the Seminar, Workshop and Practicum course, the second group of FM4A organized their Midterm Seminar on July 25 at the St. Thomas Hall.
Themed "Effective Risk Management towards Competitive Advantage", the discussion focused on the duties and responsibilities of a credit risk manager working in a bank. Ms. Annabelle Pacallagan from the Planter's Development Bank was invited to impart her knowledge on the said subject.
Apart from the said topic, Ms. Pacallagan also shared tips on what are the worst and best parts of being a credit risk manager. She also gave imparted some valuable lessons she learned in her job, and what is the reality behind her job. Moreover, the experienced-credit-risk-manager added introduced the job opportunities for Financial Management graduates.
The seminar started at exactly 10 in the morning with an opening prayer led by Ms. Lovely Velez and the singing of the National Anthem. Prof. Cristina M. Castro-Cabral, dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, gave the opening remarks and she shared an excellent talk about the effective Seminar Workshop Program and gave some ideas about the effective risk management. She even asked some of the students from Polytechnic University of the Philippines since they were invited to witness the seminar the group had prepared. Prof. Cabral was impressed with them since they intelligently answered her questions. To liven up the participants, selected students of the Colegio showcased their talents and also the participants were asked to join the games that the group had prepared. After the talk, the group headed to the open forum, where the students and the participants could ask questions to the speaker. Many of the guest students from PUP asked questions, as much as the students from Letran. The seminar ended with a closing prayer which was led by Ms. Jocelyn Sabino then followed by the singing of the Alma Mater Hymn.
The seminar was successfully done despite of the problems the group had encountered before the program. We were able to overcome the challenges and made the program well done.
